Chemotherapy

Cancer is the most likely cause of death in our patients over 10 years of age. We are pleased to be able to offer chemotherapy, where appropriate, for both our canine and feline patients. In liaison with specialist veterinary oncologists, we can tailor a chemotherapy protocol to your pet’s needs to give the best possible chance of achieving remission.

In humans common side effects for chemotherapy include hair loss, nausea, vomiting, bone marrow suppression, and diarrhoea, but our animal patients seem to be a whole lot more tolerant than humans are and rarely experience these. Proper monitoring, and reducing the dose when required minimises the likelihood of side effects and/or toxicities resulting from these drugs. This means that most of our patients can still enjoy a fantastic quality of life while on treatment.
